Khariatabad Ganesh 2024 Laddu Weight Making History
The Khairatabad Ganesh festival is famous for its Laddu. From 2009 to 2015, the Khiaratabad Ganesh festival committee would display a laddu weighing 50 kg at the festival grounds.
LADDU HISTORY of Khariatabad Ganesh 2024
In 2016, the festival committee requested that Rao decrease the laddu’s weight to 600 kg, citing difficulties in distributing such a large laddu to devotees.
Rao declared that he would no longer provide laddu to the festival, claiming that the committee had violated their agreement by placing the laddu at Ganesha’s feet instead of handing it over as initially agreed.
The same year, Rao made history by creating a laddu that broke into the Guinness World Record, weighing 29,465 kg, which to a Ganesha idol in Visakhapatnam.
Immersion of Khariatabad Ganesh 2024
The Khairatabad Ganesh, along with several thousand other idols in the city, are immersed in the Hussain Sagar Lake on the last day of the festivities. The idol is taken on a shobha yatra (transl. ritual journey), an immersion procession rally in the city. A massive trolley pulls up the idol with the help of advanced cranes from Khairtabad to Hussain Sagar. The Khairatabad Ganesh idol is taken on a direct route to the lake at Tank Bund Road, while other idols are taken in a longer procession route around the city.
